He had a good chin. His KO losses were usually as a result of exhaustion. He took some massive shots against Joshua and was finished on his feet. Top class fighter right up to the end.

This argument is always so ****** lol nobody here is a top ranked Heavyweight contender. God forbid people talk about fighters critically before some asshat jumps in and tells us that we'd get crushed in a boxing match.

For a heavyweight champion his chin was average or slightly below average. He didn't have a glass jaw but his chin was his weakest point. His losses were all KO losses except the loss to Fury. He was hurt and knocked down in fights he won as well. He was still a good champion because of his skill, size and strength, great punching power and excellent defense.

wladimir changed his entire style to protect a vulnerable chin that was causing him to lose.

yeah, he lost to punchers after he gassed, but they didn't have to land a ton of hard stuff to get him there. for an all time great HW [top 15 HW let's say,] his chin was flat out bad. most of hte greats at HW had very solid chins. frazier, foreman, tyson, holyfield, ali, these guys had terrific chins. ali and holyfield had two of the best chins ever at any weight. you need a great chin at HW to fight and beat other great fighters with power. unless you're ali in '66 they'll eventually land on you.

wladimir is a perfect example of a fighter, under a great trainer, learning how to build a style that suits his strengths. early in his career he fought like a bomber. found out that his huge body woudl ditre, and his chin would let him down if he kept fighting like that.

by the end of his career he'd gotten away from the jab, but in his prime it was the best in the sport. and behind it [sometimes] came one of the hardest right hands i've ever seen. why fight inside when you can hold? you're 6'6" and 245 lbs, just lean on the guy and he'll tire out like you were beating on him. why throw to the body when it leaves you vulnerable? jab jab, sometimes throw the right, or just hold on. you'll win the rounds, and most of your opponents are going to break down from you putting your oven mitt sized hands on them all night from half a mile away.
