  • Comments Thread For: Kovalev: The Pressure Will Be High To Fight Beterbiev, Bivol

Former unified champion Sergey Kovalev (30-2-1, 26 KOs) is looking to impress when he comes back to the ring on November 25th against Vyacheslav Shabranskyy. At the Theater in New York's Madison Square Garden, the winner of the fight will be the owner of the vacant WBO light heavyweight title. Coming into this important match, Kovalev had lost back to back fights to Andre Ward. In losing those bouts, Kovalev was relieved of his WBO, WBA, IBF world titles. Ward retired a few months ago, creating a situation where all three titles were left vacant.

No doubt the match-ups for unification are mouth-watering, not to mention the talent hovering around like Badou Jack, Barerra, Gvozdyk and a couple others-maybe Alvarez, Smith Jr..\

But we fans know that boxing expectations come to fruition about as regularly as a hottie who doesn't need any gaming to give it up.

By 2020 Duckingson will be 43 and hopefully some younf buck will do a B-hop finale on his ass.

Saddam's last speech was a eulogy and cautionary tale for the self-serving, deluded, self-righteous, moralizing shells of the west.

Kovalev could still potentially wind up in the IBHOF if he recaptures his old form and takes out a few of the other top light heavies. I'd still prefer to see Kovalev vs Stevenson than any of the others though. So much bad blood between them and an awesome clash of styles

Kov isn't going to fight Bieterbiev now that he is with TR. He isn't going to fight Stevenson. Maybe Gvozdyk.

Were there that many comments for Kovalev-Silakh? Really? This is a tuneup fight and Shabranskky looked like **** his last major fight. If Kovalev wins and fights someone good again on the top level, there will be comments again. Kovalev-Ward was a unique case with lots of hostility because it pitted the good guys (Kovalev, Kovalev fans, people who like real, clean, entertaining boxers who will fight anyone) vs the bad guys (people who cheat, people who encourage all the things that have ruined boxing and continue to kill the sport). Then the bad guys robbed the good guys in the first fight so it just became even more antagonistic.

Kovalev, dude, this is the beginning of your last chance. Shabranskyy is someone you should beat. You have maybe 2-3 years to rewrite your legacy at most before Father Time comes knocking. Getting those belts back will help, but fighting all the impressive names at 175 is way more important.
