I want to get excited but elite boxing isn't in being able to hit the pads. It's about having the stamina to go 12 rounds with champ. I don't think Fury can ever come back from the damage he's done to his body. People like to think it's just about losing the weight. There's a lot more to it than that and I think we'll see this if/when he returns.

I'm a Fury fan but i agree, you have to be realistic. I can see something like Hatton v Senchenko if he fights someone decent. Hatton spent 3 years out taking coke and drinking. He also had 4 stone to lose which is probably similar to Fury now when you consider their sizes. Hatton was in that fight and you could see shades of the old prime Hatton and see he would have destroyed Senchenko but he just couldn't do the job anymore, the range wasn't there and couldn't take it when it was put on him.

That said, who knows. Fury is only 29 and has been very fat before and took the weight off and looked good. It just depends to what extent he was drinking and taking ******* and whatever else.

Anyway, if he gets into shape and even beats a couple of decent fighters, it's still better than being out of the ring and obese. So good luck to him. I don't think anyone in the HW division is truly elite though, so i think he still has a good chance.

I feel like he would need at least two years of eating right and working out and fighting tune ups to get back where he used to be at. It's a shame really, watching him in the video because you can really tell he has talent and could possibly be the top heavy right now.

Fury also has a style that generally ages better than Hatton's style did. I think if he gets a couple of tune ups and looks decent then there's no reason he can't beat any of the best guys in the division.

If he beats a too 15 opponent in the organisations and is in relatively modest shape I don't see why he doesn't deserve a shot at AJ by the summer, it's clearly a bigger fight at home than any other and I think I'd just like to see him win or lose and retire officially so we can get on with having a lineal heir at the weight, some will argue he's no longer lineal but has he really officially retired other than playing around ? The answer is no, the man is still lineal I'd usually go by what TBRB go with but in this instance I do not.

That's true. I also should have mentioned that i think Hatton was finished before his 3 year binge anyway.

My point is though can you really abuse your body for 2 years and become obese and return to your best?

I agree. In fact, I personally think he should be entitled to a title shot whenever ready, though he'd be wise to take a tune-up or two first. Summer would be quick. I think he should have the weight off for a year and go for it in the winter. More than anything, I just want to see him either get in or out. There's this box/celeb thing in the UK where fighters linger around and call everyone out, without doing much of anything (Khan, Haye, Fury, Saunders for a while, etc). Whatever he is, retired or not, let's get on with this.
