Comments Thread For: Yuriorkis Gamboa Hires Top Veteran Trainer For Do or Die Fight

Former world champion Yuriorkis Gamboa (27-2, 17 KOs) is taking no chances for his HBO televised return on November 25th, when he steps in as a late replacement to fight Jason Sosa in an HBO televised fight from Madison Square Garden in New York City. Gamboa's career is on the ropes after suffering a TKO loss to Robinson Castellanos in May of this year in Las Vegas.

Why not. Gamboa is really talented and is still a exciting. He is supposed to beat average tough guys like Sosa amd i hope he does.

Gamboa needs a time machine, some drugs, and a prayer. A guy that undersized with a slow down in reflexes and a iffy chin is only a danger to himself. JuanMa 2.0.

"Golden Boy Promotions President Eric Gomez, who promotes Gamboa, admits the Cuban boxer's career will likely be over as a top player if he loses with Sosa."

He was over as a top player many years ago. He is already irrelevant.

It's going to take more than a couple of weeks to correct all the flaws that Gamboa has. He's taking an L here.

Too little, too late. Yuri should’ve gotten himself a top trainer a few years ago. This won’t turn back the clock.

Very true unfortunately. Fighters who heavily depend on speed and reflexes as their principle game suffer once they start to slow. The Roy Jones effect. Speed kills but it does not last. If he had some basics wrapped in his style he would last longer. The ambush in and out game is a young mans game only.
