  • A lot of people ****ting on Jacobs but as someone that picked Arias I was embarrassed. It was dominant from Jacobs from start to end.

      • Still, blowout or not, Jacobs went the distance for the 2nd time in a row. And this time against an opponent that would never ever be considered a top contender.

So now, I'm more sure than ever that Canelo would dismantle him and even knock him down once or twice.

The only reason why he gave GGG so much trouble is because he was probably 10+ pounds heavier than GGG and Jacobs does have leg speed and stamina, both of things Canelo has never had.

Other than that, technically speaking, Canelo is miles away better than Jacobs as a boxer and he hits harder as well IMHO.

        • Im happy jacobs will finally have the ability and team that will keep him active. And it was good to hear him being excited for this new chance of activity. If he woulda been active last few yrs against real competition then he woulda stopped arias imo. He will improve and be a tough fight for all mw's. Miller and wach are fooking joke. The hebrew hammer is fun and punches like a mfr

Jacob's is coming off a loss, has already been ko'd in embarrassing fashion, knocked down by Sergio Mora, having a pointless rematch with Mora (while taking credit for Mora's broken leg that occurred during the rematch), and has been inactive for long stretches of his career (post cancer).

Some of the things HBO were saying were just plain insane.
For example HBO and Jacob's proclaim that his loss to GGG has made him into a special/great fighter and he had learned alot from his loss to GGG and his career shows it, but how do we know this since last night was Jacob's 1st fight since his loss to GGG. I have never seen a fighter spin a loss like Jacob's has regarding GGG. Just because he went the distance HBO and Jacob's use that as evidence of his greatness. It is just nuts. HBO went as far as to make excuses for Jacob's ko loss by blaming it on his cancer w/o providing any evidence to back up such a crazy theory. I thought that was extremely unprofessional and seriously insane.

HBO was exaggerating Jacob's performance claiming he was out-classing and dominating Arias. Now, he was winning the fight and won it obviously, but if you look at punch stat rd per rd Jacobs barely landed between 3-5 more punches per rd than Arias. And HBO was pointing to Arias low #'s as proof of him being dominated. So I guess the difference between outclassing your opponent and him giving a ****ty performance is only 3-5 punches.

Jacobs mostly did nothing for the majority of the rd until the 10sec clap only then did he really let his hands go. Jacob's seemed more interested in complaining to the ref about every body shot than in finding a way to get Arias out of there.

If Arias really hurt Jacob's feeling with all the trash talk Jacob's did not seem to insistent on making Arias pay for it. Plus why is Jacob's so offended by trash talk anyway its part of the sport and part of trying to get into your opponents head. The trash talk is no big deal, but Jacob's acts like he is above being trash talked to.
If Jacob's was as good as HBO has been bragging about he should of ko'd Arias or at least hurt him, but Jacob's did neither. It was not a very impressive performance. Jacob's has size, power and speed, but does not know how to put them into effective use.

then why couldn't Golovkin put him away ?

            • Garbage matchmaking! The kid Seldon fought has left Mexico twice and got demolished both times.
Wach is one brave man because he has nothing left but tried to be competitive even with a busted right hand.
The guy went 12 with the more talented fighters he fought and he has little to no offense. His manager and corner man need to be horse whipped if they bring him to the ring again.
Big Baby...........................I don't know what the hell he is......

Arias is a green kid and had no right to be in there with Jacobs but the promotion played this kid up as an "undefeated up and comer" who has learned to survive and make one hell of an ugly fight!

The two co-features and main event were HORRIBLE!
If this is what Hearns considers exciting boxing he has no plan to spend money on "both sides".

Maybe Seldon still needs some building blocks but Miller and Jacobs need live bodies, they don't need to be built up at this point.

I knew this was going to be a stinker but I watched it.

ps; my guess for Jacobs weight would be 178lb he looked a little trimmer than he did against GGG.
He has a great body and the talent is there but he lacks drive and determination. If he had his head and heart right he could dominate at 160 & 68.

                • That fight was a snoozer.
Wish jacobs would have got him out of there. Btw anyone notice how much bigger Jacobs looked in the ring than Arias? Either way boring fight. Actually the whole card was boring.

first of all, jacobs actually put a beating on ggg. jacobs should have got the decision if it wasn't for the politics of boxing...if you're an objective viewer, you can clearly see that.

secondly, arias is no bum...he's not a clubfighter...he's a serious contender who would probably beat most of the top ten at mw...he's a whole lot better than willie monroe or liam smith. the fact jacobs handled him with ease says more about how great jacobs is at this point in his career.

                    • Is this the same Daniel Jacobs that went toe-to-toe with Golovkin? Is this the same Jacobs that some believe beat Golovkin? Would Arias have survived Golovkin like he did Jacobs? I saw a rather sharp Jacobs and a very cautious Arias. However, I didn't see a Jacobs who will someday ascend to the top of the division and own all of the belts. Golovkin would have beaten Arias to a pulp. Danny says he'll never get tired of telling his cancer survival story & neither will HBO, as long as they have a contract with him. That story may win hearts & fans, but it's not going to win boxing championships.
