  • Comments Thread For: Junior Fa Destroys Fred Latham; Wins by First-Round KO

Junior Fa destroyed Fred Latham on Friday night. The powerful heavyweight from New Zealand needed just 1:07 to knock out Latham in a fight that was scheduled for eight rounds. Fa initially hurt Latham with a left hook to the head, before unloading a barrage of power shots to Latham's head that forced referee Clifford Pinkney to stop the bout.

This is good news for HW boxing, as the giant Junior Fa is being groomed as a future champion. Reportedly beat Joe Parker in the amateurs with footwork and movement, and watching a few of his fights he certainly has some sound fundamentals.
Lost to Usyk back in 2012 I think in the World Boxing Series, but looked overwhelmed and baffled by Usyk's style, so it remains to be seen if he can deal with an elite or even world class HW who has a good chin and can box.

He'll have to really be a non Samoan and eat right and watch that weight hard, if he ever makes his name he will struggle to live down Junior Fat as he will surely be known if he gets any heavier with age
He's ok, bit of natural talent but his arms don't look long? If he wants to hang with the big boys he needs to muscle up a bit but keep his natural fluidity but train that neck
Looks like Joshua could knock him out with a jab

Well he's Tongan not that it means much. Although he's 260 and could drop a few he carries the weight well all over he's a good mover with hand speed and as for his reach it's longer than Joshua's. But no doubt the island boys need to stay disciplined more than most to keep the weight off. Looks like he is training very hard iv seen him well excess of 270. I got faith he can add to the divison

Team Fa should push for a Commonwealth title fight in the 1st quarter of 2018!

Fa should fight someone like Pegoraro or Nasio next, then go for big fights against guys like Tupou and Haumono

That's pretty cool if he has the reach, if he did all the high performance training stuff AJ does he'd be a machine
Well good luck to him, he's going to get hit at the top level, no short arsed Islanders so get in the gym lol

Well, he's no technician but it was a fun KO to watch.
He sure knocked that guy into another dimension, the look on Latham's face after the KO was priceless, lotta power.
