Comments Thread For: Klitschko Admits He Was Very Close To Taking Joshua Rematch

According to former unified heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko, he was very close to announcing his decision to fight IBF, IBO, WBA world champion Anthony Joshua in a planned fall rematch. "I love boxing. I love its fans, its challenges and life chances so much. Klitschko vs Joshua 2 is on. I'll see you at ringside" - that was the message Klitschko had put together and planned to issue on social media, but it was never released.

You don't need to come back Wlad. You've paid your dues and you came back from the dead to became a top 10 best ever heavy.

Idk if he's top 10 best ever, but he's definitely close. I rate his brother above him though.

Agreed. Definitely in the conversation; Joe Louis, Ali, Sonny Liston, Foreman, Lennox Lewis, Larry Holmes, Marciano, Frazier, Tyson, Holyfield.. Klitschko bro's have to be in conversation. But pre-WW2 hard to judge for me.

His brother was the GOAT Heavyweight. Never really lost a fight and never was dropped. His two losses were from freak occurrences - Byrd and Lennox wanted no parts of a rematch with him. Most consistent Heavyweight ever.

A prime Wlad would of taken Joshua out easy! Just a better, more consistent, overall fighter!

Say what you will about Klitschko, but I know of no champion with more intelligence, education and dignity that Wladimir. He may not be the best champion in history, but when it comes to these things he is in the league of his own.

If Joshua wants to topple Wlad's record, he should pay attention to who he is outside the ring.
