Comments Thread For: Jackson: If Jacobs Slugs With Arias, It'll Be a Short Night

NEW YORK John David Jackson expects Luis Arias to surprise plenty of people Saturday night. The undefeated fighter Jackson trains is largely unknown to boxing fans, but the former two-division champion is fully confident Arias will pull off an upset when he boxes Jacobs in the main event of an HBO "World Championship Boxing" tripleheader (10 p.m. ET). The Milwaukee native is completely capable, according to Jackson, of out-boxing Jacobs or knocking him out at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York

Arias has like 2% chance of winning . I have only seen him fight once so maybe I am wrong.

The 27-year-old Arias has knocked out only 50 percent of his opponents (18-0, 9 KOs), but Arias and Jackson consider his knockout ratio deceptive because he was competing at super middleweight for the first three years of his pro career.

He has 4 fights at the 160 lb. MW limit and his KO percentage in those 4 fights is 50%. The 2 guys that took him the distance were Dionisio Miranda, who has 13 KO losses among his 16 losses, and Scott Sigmon, who has 5 KO losses among his 11 losses.

Who do they think they are fooling with that BS?

I thought Arias looked pretty good in his fight on the Ward vs Kovalev undercard. I think he was fighting Magomedov who isn’t special but not a complete scrub like the two middleweights who Arias went the distance with. I was surprised by Arias skills in the ring. I’m not saying he’s gonna beat Jacobs, but I would say he has more than a 2% chance like the guy above there.

very interesting. I was gonna say if there was any merit to any of this but it seems pretty far fetched. Jacobs is gonna hurt this dude.

yea pretty lame excuse, luis wasnt REALLY fighting at superMW, technically yes he was but like every other american fighter they were all catchweight fights, 164, 163 etc. Plenty of guys coming up fighting catchweights vs scrubs have high ko%

Exactly. He said the same thing with Stevens and Lemieux. He gave his guy the wrong gameplan. He let Stevens **** with him, then told him to weather the storm ugh.
