Why are we looking at the AJ-Wilder fight as just 1 fight?

Why are we looking at the AJ-Wilder fight as just 1 fight?

Hearn is talking about building the fight up. There aren't any other fights out there that can make this fight bigger. The only way to make this fight bigger is to have them fight and have a rematch. The rematch will be bigger than the first fight.

    Wilder is 32

    AJ is 28

There's enough time to get a trilogy out of these guys. And it's not like the HW division is full of good fighters who we'd rather see them fight.

Hearn is afraid to take a risk and he's trying to maximize the revenue on one fight. He should be looking at 2 fights at the minimum. He said himself that ideally the fight is 12-18 months away to make the most revenue. That's ridiculous.

If they fought now and it was close the rematch would make more money than an initial fight 12-18 months away. But there's the risk that if they fought next one of them would get brutally KO'd and no one would want a rematch. But I doubt that happens. I think it'll be close until one gets the KO and if that happens people will still want to see a rematch.

I have been saying this too.

Make the first fight now and maybe we get more than one, maybe we get 3.

And, I am going to disagree slightly.

Even a brutal KO won't preclude a rematch.

    These are heavys.

A rematch is normal even with a KO as long as both guys can beat everyone else.

There's gotta be at least two fights, maybe a third if they need a tie breaker

I think it's just people getting cautious hopping on heavyweight hype trains too early. Neither guy has been established at the top of the sport for long and heavyweight is infamous for hype trains getting exposed.

When the fight happens it will speak for itself.

Whyte vs Wilder in the UK sets this fight up. You're lying if you say it wouldn't help sell more tickets for an AJ vs Wilder showdown in the UK, especially if Wilder steamrolls/KOs Whyte (although I see it being a tougher fight actually for Wilder).
