Because he was a fighter and I have respect for him. He is no saint sure but who is?

I can tell you a little about Rog. He has no patience but he's a pretty cool dude. One day he yeled at me for 2 straight hours when I was training. Talking about the way I was hitting the bags. Something to the effect of if I just want to "play around" and not listen to him (he wasn't my trainer he was just giving tips) thats fine because it's not like he was World Champion etc. He even told my real trainer "that guy is a piece of ****" and I heard him Then after all this all day, he asks me for a ride home. I knew he had a car so it was kind of weird but I did it. We got to his house which was in Vegas very close to Texas Station Casino. He said "follow me." I went in his place, this was before he made whatever significant money from Floyd. He had a decent 2 story track house with an OLD broken down Rolls Royce, probably from the 80s, in the yard. We get in his living room and he says "wait here." So Im standing in his living room and on the wall is this big oil painting of him in like pimp attire. It was kind of surreal because the house was all dark and dingy and you could tell he had money a long time ago but not anymore. Then Rog comes back and puts a WBA belt in my hand. I dont remember exactly what he said but it was something to the effect of this is what its all about and if someone doesnt have one of these how can they teach me how to win one.

The rest of my Rog stories are much more volatile, but this is the memory of him I will always keep on top.

Very disappointing news. He’s been struggling with his health for a few years now hopefully he gets the care he needs to make a recovery soon. Definitely one of the funniest and most entertaining trainers of all time and a very good exciting fighter in his day as well. Get better soon champ and to all you haters kicking a man while he’s down, get a life. None of you know s*it about boxing anyway so find something else useful to do with your time instead.

I remember Floyd saying a while back that he has diabetes and dementia.

Hitler wasn't a boxer, Hitler is not ill. Hitler didn't train an atg boxer in Floyd. The funny thing is if this was a family member of yours, you'd be articulating the grief with stricken relatives chatting bollocks about hoping for the best while you weep into aunt mabels naval you sad bastad.

I remember Mayweather saying a couple of years ago that Roger was losing his memories and some days he doesn't even recognise Floyd. He walks down the street and gets lost. He didn't say what is actually wrong with him but i'd guess alzheimer's.
