Comments Thread For: Gomez: Shabranskyy's Defense Must Be Better Against Kovalev

Vyacheslav Shabranskyy's biggest takeaway from his knockout loss to Sullivan Barrera is to be more mindful of defense. The then-unbeaten Ukrainian had overcome a first-round knockdown in their fight to drop Barrera in the second round. He was too reckless thereafter, though, and was knocked down twice before suffering a seventh-round knockout defeat December 16 in Indio, California.

kovalev's return is interesting to see..most especially the mental side of things..coming off two back to back losses to Andre ward..if he's mentally there and his gas tank is also on point I see no reason why he shouldn't do a number on this shabranskyy guy..his chin has been cracked before..and I believe kovalev hits harder than barrera..its gonna be a fun fight with two big punchers

I'm thinking Kovalev has a lot left, and it would be good for the LHW division if he does.

Totally agree. Sure there are a lot of good fighters out there at 175 (Bivol, Beterbiev, Gvozdyk), but i think Krusher is far to be boiled. If he wins against Shabranskyy, he'll probably get his self-consciousness back on top and he'll probably be once again the MAN of the division. Let's go KRUSHER!!!
