I was digging through some old newspapers from my late father and came across a cool story I had never heard. This is from the December 22, 1914 Chicago Gazette. I could not think of anyone but this forum that might appreciate! Enjoy.

Carpentier is a really interesting guy. He turned pro at 14 as a Welterweight and ended up winning the world LH title and also unsuccessfully challenged Jack Dempsey for the HW title. In between that he fought in WW1 and also became referee - pretty sure he actually refereed a Jack Johnson HW title fight.
I've only really read about him though tbh, I've watched the Dempsey fight and seen the highlights of his fight with Gene Tunney but that's about it I'm afraid
