Can an american tell me the difference between the broadcast channel nationals and nielsen ratings?

Other than the gap of around 180,000 viewers.

One says it did 646k.. now nielsen say its nearer 900k?? Why the large disparity?

Food for thought: The last time an HBO or Showtime fight averaged at least 1M viewers was Golovkin-Wade in April 2016.

One is peak which is basically when Wilder fought one is average which takes the whole card into account including in-between fights.

The average for the brief Wilder fight was like 840k so people were basically still tuning in as the fight ended.

Generally speaking ad people care about peak more than average.

Wilder is more popular than I thought. These ratings on Showtime and 10k people at the Barclays while the UFC was going on at MSG, is nothing to discredit at all for a U.S. audience.

He has some momentum going for sure.

                joshua 1.5 milion ppvs sold

                wilder 1.5 million purse

this looks like a classic 90-10 split. wilder could have increased his bargaining power by taking whyte and doing good numbers while putting pressure on joshua. oh well now we have to go on the numbers he does have since he doesnt have international data to go on
Another dumb UK fan comparing UK PPVs that cost about $30 to American PPVs that can cost 3 times that.

Your an idiot, your make a false comparison, and attempt to pass it off as fact.

                Just be quiet.

It’s good that his fights are free for Americans to watch, this should sure help him for his next fight. Which would probably be Breazeale on PPV.

He was comparing ppv's with non ppvs. The Wilder equivalent of Showtime would be a Sky Sports subscription if he did that with no ppv the numbers would be astronomical. As you improve as a fighter you get promoted from subscription channel to ppv.

yep you need to do a multiplier for UK to US ppv (personally I think that is killing US boxing) but Wilder is doing zero ppv. Seriously he's money ... unless your FFloyd or Canelo. (Also you have to allow for what the pubs are doing which costs them a lot more and where a lot of people are watching)
