It's rarely the fighter that is scared. AJ isn't scared of Wilder. Wilder isn't scared of AJ. They are fighters. They fear no man.

However, promoters are a different story. Dibella is VERY CONFIDENT that Wilder beats AJ, and therefore, he wants them to fight ASAP.

Hearn isn't quite as confident that AJ beats Wilder, and therefore, he's in no rush to make the fight. Why not squeeze out a couple more paydays before facing the biggest threat? It's common sense. I don't blame Hearn for it for a second.

But fans should be smarter than to fall for this Dillian Whyte ruse. It's clearly Hearn trying to buy time. Plain and simple. Hearn is just doing his job, but fans should be smart enough to see through it.

That’s how it works for promoters, they have more to lose when they have the A-side fighter, Dibella was like that with Sérgio Martinez when GGG came around. So yeah no surprises there, if it’s up to Joshua am sure he would fight Wilder today. But hey it takes more than one person for a fight to happen.

There is one interesting scenario that has not been discussed. The WBA still doesn't have a world heavyweight champion (Joshua is "super" champion).

So whether it's Ustinov, Charr or Oquendo that ends up with the WBA world title, Deontay could attempt to unify with them, which would then force Joshua to fight him.

Personally i dont think Wilder needs to force Joshua hand, that fight would happen naturally, just not next. Moreover Parker belts would be a better option for Wilder, Because if he is looking to go down that route then he makes the Joshua fight longer into 2019 IMHO.

Haymon tried everything imaginable to get Parker for Wilder. There were very serious discussions earlier this year for a July 2017 fight. Wilder was even willing to take less than 50% in order to entice Parker.

But Bob Arum blocked the fight. He needs a piece of the heavyweight title for his ESPN deal and he did everything possible to stop that unification from taking place. It's a dead issue now. There's nothing Wilder can do to get Parker in the ring.
