Is Anthony Joshua a "businessman" like Adonis Stevenson?

Different situations. Stevenson made the Kovalev match up impossible to make by moving to showtime. Joshua isnt or hasnt so far.
They had both already had the build up fight that was supposed to lead into their match up and then Stevenson moved. If AJ didnt fight Wilder after the next round of fights, then you can start saying duck, anf that would be similar to what Stevenson did.
Im not even convinced Stevenson made a good bidniss move tbh. Yeah he made loads of money for easy fights, but he also basically never fights.Last edited by Tom Cruise; 11-07-2017, 03:25 AM.Comment

Showtime offered Stevenson more money to sign with them than HBO did. That's just smart business, right?Different situations. Stevenson made the Kovalev match up impossible to make by moving to showtime. Joshua isnt or hasnt so far.

And despite that he was still willing to participate in a purse bid with Kovalev. It was the other side that backed out of it, not him.Comment

Ok but that literally stopped the fight happening for the foreseeable future.
All AJ/Hearn are trying to get is one fight to build Wilders name more in the UK. This fight is a big risk, we know it, Team AJ know it. They want to make the most money they can.
I dont think these situations are comparible at all tbh. Stevenson and Kovalev both had fights on HBO that were meant to lead into their fight together, and then Stevenson left for Sho. If AJ gets Wilder to fight Whyte, and he fights someone else, and then he leaves for HBO. Then that is comparible and I will be joining you saying it is a duck. Until then i dont think you have much of a leg to stand on tbhComment

Again, what more buildup does this fight really need? Wilder has the WBC belt and it would be a unification.Ok but that literally stopped the fight happening for the foreseeable future.

One more fight isn't going to make much difference in terms of hyping it up.
As I understand it the deal with Showtime and Joshua has concluded. So for your sake I hope he doesn't bolt to HBO now because then it would be EXACTLY like the Stevenson situation.
A situation which it already resembles in principal anyway. With one guy avoiding his toughest foe in order to make more money.Last edited by ShoulderRoll; 11-07-2017, 02:07 PM.Comment

For you and me the fight doesnt need any more build up, for the UK casuals (who are gonna be the biggest market for this fight) they need to know Wilder is a big threat to Joshua for it to make the big bucks. Wilder starching Whyte goes some way ti making that happen.Again, what more buildup does this fight really need? Wilder has the WBC belt and it would be a unification.

'For my sake' lol. All i am talking about is the situation as it stands. If AJ signs an exclusive deal with HBO after their next fight (assuming they don't fight each other) i will be right with you calling it a duck.
As it stands this is closer to the Canelo Vs GGG situation, except there is much less clamour for the AJ vs DW fight from casual fans now then there were for Canelo vs GGG after Ginger beat Cotto.
AJ isnt avoiding Wilder
Again, if they wanted to avoid him, then they (AJ, Hearn, Sky sports) wouldnt mention his name. As it stands they talk about it all the time
