Whose the better counter punchers here and who is better overall in this matchup?

Marquez is the better counterpuncher, but Mikey is more consistent in my opinion. Marquez is up and down from round to round. just look at the Diaz, katsidis, Barrera, casamayor fights. 1 round he looks overrated, the next round he looks like a all time great.

plus Marquez was 33 or 34 in 2008, I'm leaning Garcia split decision.

Marquez is hugely overrated. Outside of the Pac fights, what has he really done? And, even in the pack fights, he only clearly won 1 of the 4.
Don't get me wrong, I actually like his style a lot and always enjoyed watching him fight. Even rooted for him most of the time. he just gets WAY too much credit, mostly because he was Pac's nemesis.

Garcia is more talented and will likely have greater career success, depending on the decisions he makes.
