Comments Thread For: Andy Lee Tabs Saunders To Beat Lemieux, Wants a Rematch

WBO kingpin Billy Joe Saunders defends his World Title against former World Champion David Lemieux on December 16th at the Place Bell, Quebec. Saunders won his Middleweight strap against Andy Lee back in December 2015, winning a majority decision and scoring two knockdowns in the process. Lee then took some time off before returning to the ring this year and recently told iFL TV he's aiming for another bout against Billy Joe.

Andy Lee is a great boxing analyst...alas, I hope he is wrong here. Lemmy is just better for boxing than BJ.

He is wrong here. Noticed he said they're close friends; of course you're going to root for your friend. No way BJ beats Lemuiex.

            I completely disagree.....

            1) he will never be a top-level fighter, the best that he can hope for is to be continually recycled as a look-good opponent for top fighters, and as a gatekeeper

            2) I am sick of hearing casual fans refer to him as a top fighter..... if his presence is clouding the waters at 160, then Saunders would be doing the world a favor

            3) because he is a draw, Lemieux can be used as leverage to prevent BETTER fights being made......

            e.g.

if Lemmy beats Saunders, Canelo could select him over Golovkin..... simply because it is far easier to make that fight than to deal with Team Bullshht

Jacobs/Charlo could select him, instead of fighting each other..... or, instead of fighting Canelo/Golovkin

            4) Saunders has a higher ceiling, and has obviously decided to step up his competition..... as we can see by him signing to fight Golovkin in Kazakhstan, and now travelling to Canada to set himself up for the Canelo/Golovkin winner

Lemieux is not going to beat Golovkin, Canelo, Jacobs, Charlo..... but Saunders could at least make those fights interesting, because he has better tools to deal with the more-skilled opponents

another reason why Saunders should do the world a favor....

he is the 2nd best trash-talker in the game behind King Fury

Was stoked when Lee won the belt was able to make a defense albeit a draw before dropping it to Saunders. I don't see him coming back with the same fire he once had and should call it a day.
