By 'close fight', I meant both presented Fury with some difficulties. When taking into consideration that Kevin Johson was stopped in 2 rounds by Anthony Joshua whilst he went the distance against Fury, then relatively speaking, he did have a 'close fight' against Kevin Johnson. Neither are any better than prime Mike Tyson.
it was the worst version of Wlad maybe because he was close to 40. An age where other heavyweight champions were either retired or were losing before reaching. Muhammad Ali lost to Leon Spinks before age 39. Mike Tyson lost to the likes of Kevin Mcbride and Danny Williams before age 39. Evander Holyfield lost against much inferior level of opposition by that age too. In other words, Fury gets very little credit for barely beating Wlad at an age where he is supposed to be beating him. At least when prime Mike Tyson fought an old Larry Holmes that was even younger than the 39 year old Wlad that fought prime Fury, Mike Tyson at least demolished Larry Holmes in 4 rounds with nothing but effective punches. On the other hand, prime Fury goes 12 rounds against a much older version of Wlad than the version of Larry Holmes which Mike Tyson dismantled whilst barely landing any effective punches. That actually proves how bad Tyson Fury is! Are you seriously giving that much credit to Fury beating a 39 year old Wlad by such a small margin when other past heavyweight champs lost to inferior opposition at a much younger age?
Also, keep in mind that Wlad already showed his age in the Bryant Jennings fight. He was anything but his best during that fight. Boxers like Eddie Chambers and Chris Byrd had superior movement and defensive abilities than Tyson Fury or Bryant Jennings when Wlad faced them. Yet He destroyed both! That tells me Wlad had deteriorated by the time he fought Bryant Jennings. That also tells me if Wlad fought Bryant Jennings or Tyson Fury at the time he fought Eddie Chambers or Chris Byrd, he would've beaten them both, most likely by knockout!
As for Mike Tyson being a midget, he was also a midget against the likes of Frank Bruno, Tony Tucker and so forth so on! That doesn't mean he is 100% helpless and doesn't have any chance at beating the current heavyweights. Sure, he is going to have problems. That doesn't mean he isn't going to be the favorite to beat many of the current heavyweights like Tyson Fury.
Just so you know, I don't think Mike Tyson would beat every heavyweight of the last 10 years. I think he loses to Vitali Klitschko and Wladimir Klitschko. Mainly because of styles and punching power. Tyson Fury is a different case than them!
