1mill UK PPV buys in a country with a 5th of the population as the U.S. How much PPV buys would Wilder do if he ever boxed on ppv? Wilder got 1mil views on free to air tv? If AJ was on free tv in the UK he would have 5 million+ views. This fight was not promoted in the U.S, was a IBF mandatory against a guy who on paper didnt stand a chance and lost every round in the fight.

5PM EST, during college football season, is not a good time slot in the U.S.! Georgia-Florida in the Southeast, Ohio St. vs. Penn St. in the Midwest! Who is going to turn those off to watch AJ vs. Takam? GO DAWGS!

Who gives a **** about America? The HW division belongs to the UK, if Wilder wants that payday he needs to accept he's the B side and make the trip across the pond.

Boxing is the business on these forums right? Especially as far as it concerns fanboys on here.

So if boxing is a business, why does this mater? It does, but more on that later.

Americans, by and large only care for their own, which is understandable.

Klitschko's got no ratings in US either, so what? They've amassed wealth, and must be TOP5 earners in the sport of boxing in the last 25 years. Not bad for two guys from a place many would have a hard time finding on a map despite the countries relatively big footprint.

                  So back to business....

AJ is selling stadiums in the UK, massive PPVs and is a name in Europe because he beat the man who was the man in the division in a market where the money is.

UK is a rich market, with plenty of infrastructure and Europe is just across the pond and everyone will be buying the TV rights for his fights across the channel.

Why bother with the American market if you are making tens of millions fighting in Europe?

Why bother when non-American fighters seldom ever become stars in America? What business sense for that is there?

It's one thing for a Mexican to become a star in the US, because Mexicans come out to see their man. Or for a Puerto Rican to become a star in US because that demographic comes out to support.

It's also something else for someone from a country with a small domestic market to come to fight in US, say Argentina or Ukraine and try to make a name for themselves.

But Joshua, much like the Klitschko's doesn't need America because UK much like Germany has plenty of willing to spend their pound sterlings and euros domestically in massive stadiums and PPVs.

AJ is on a high right now, and that is taking place in the UK, eventually, sure he will fight in US but why now?

Wilder is not known in Europe. AJ fighting Wilder tomorrow in UK will get only slightly higher ratings up there than he would have against Takam.

How long has Wilder held the belt? And no one cares...

These patriotic fanboys will never see it this way. Well said.

I keep hearing that Wilder needs to go to the UK to fight and build up this fight. Most of the people I know in the UK that tuned in to watch AJ v Wlad didn't even know who Wladimir was. AJ can fight anybody in a big stadium and people will turn out in numbers and tune in to watch. It's called being part of the hype. When you get a live body who's somewhat competent you can sell the fight even more. Boxing hasn't been truly massive in the UK for a while but the appeal AJ has is becoming massive and helping to bring it back to the forefront. AJ's fans also consist of a lot of casual fans and women who don't study the science like we do. Wilder and AJ is guaranteed to do numbers over here and both of their pockets will be filled up.

The other side I keep hearing that AJ should go over to build his name, even your world heavyweight champion hasn't got massive appeal. Who's there to fight in the USA for AJ that will make him popular? Do the casuals know who Miller, Dominic B even are? If AJ goes to the states to fight a few fights so that he and Wilder can draw in numbers - this only makes sense if the fight is going to be staged in the USA. They'll fight where they can make the most money and that currently is in the UK like it or not.
