Comments Thread For: Chocolatito Being Advised To Forget Yafai, Return To 112-Pounds

Former world champion Rosendo Alvarez feels very close to countryman Roman Gonzalez, who started off the year as the best pound for pound fighter in boxing and is now on a two fight losing streak. Gonzalez lost two fights in a row to WBC super flyweight world champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai. In the first bout held in March, Gonzalez lost what some felt was a controversial twelve round decision. In the rematch a few months later, Gonzalez was knocked out cold in four rounds.

Have power at 112 but not at 115, yeah okay. 112 plus a meal = 115

I want RG to retire but if he still has the desire to box on, I'd rather see him do it at 112 as opposed to 115. Nietes and Kimura are very winnable fights for him even at this stage. Stay away from Higa though

Cashout? Ain't much money in a Yafai fight even in the UK. Inoue is the only money fight at 115 but even that wouldn't be huge IMO

Rosendo Alvarez is a legend in Nicaragua, but he needs to focus on his fighter Ricardo 'Matador' Mayorga getting the win coming up shortly in Russia -- this was bad advise, Gonzalez proves nothing beating anyone at Flyweight other than Donnie Nietes or Ioka : also Rosendo is correct about 118 pounders rehydrating up past 130 pounds BUT the UK's Ryan Burnet is a bum and has no punch, ironically the lower-weight at jr. Bantam weight is more difficult than the higher weight!

@ 115 you have P4P entrants in Gonzalez, Rungvisai, Estrada, Inoue -- what other weight division has that?! and thats not even considering the contenders.

Great advice, Chocolatito should've been taught some Bob n weave- Mike Tyson like head movement and he would be near unstoppable!

Imagine head movement like that with a guy with possibly the best engine in the sport and one of the best chins as well and hardest punchers in 3 weight divisions!?

He should cash out against Cuadras or Inoue or if Estrada beats Rungvasi then the rematch would be big money!

He needs a confidence booster or two before getting in the ring with a top fighter again. I believe his problem in the Sor Rungvisai rematch was more psychological than physical, although being KOed like that probably took something away from him. Yafai isn't a KO artist and would be a winnable for Gonzalez at his best, he just needs to rebuild first
