Comments Thread For: Joshua-Wilder: The Heavyweight Epic For a New Generation

By Lyle Fitzsimmons - The answer depends on when fans came of age. Those in their 50s will hear the phrase "big heavyweight fight" and instantly recall 1970s images of Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier and George Foreman. Those a decade younger might ponder early-1990s matches involving Evander Holyfield and Rid**** Bowe. And those who claim membership in the millennial generation can look back on a wild night in Memphis when the fading legend of Mike Tyson intersected with the ascending one of Lennox Lewis...

I feel like with the right timing and decent promotion this really can be a big time USA heavyweight championship fight, even though Wilder hasn't caught on to date, he really has all the ingredients and hype and his Superman opponent will bring up the casuals and make it a big old time Vegas occasion.

Im not from USA and realise the easy option is UK but I think if Joshua wants to fight in USA this is a good one and it will be a test of the promoter but there's huge potential to reignite the division in USA.

Wilder really has everything a promoter could want, massive knockout power and a winning personality , he's way more fun than Joshua who is just a protein counting bore.

Not today. 38 fights with 27 kos doesn't matter if you are with Haymon and no promoter. This site and others have trashed Wilder continuously. Yes, he should have fought solid B guys when he didn't get the big names. But he is a hw champion with 37 kos in 38 fights and has tried to fight Tyson Fury, Wlad, Joseph Parker, Anthony Joshua, Povetkin, and Ortiz. Still, his best win is Stiverne which isn't saying much. But the list of guys who have and are ducking him is the best of the division since he's been champ.

This fight may never happen. AJ is going to keep ducking and eventually one of them will lose and then they will make it, but no one will care. It is sad that AJ can blatantly duck Wilder and yet Wilder is hated and AJ is loved. Dang, Wilder even said he would waste his time beating Whyte first, just to make Hearn some easy $.

This is sad. This is pathetic. This is the definition of ducking. Yet the hate for Haymon means not many care.

Lennox caught Tyson on the decline of Tyson’s career. Tyson would have ran through him like a Mack truck in his prime (as he did Bruno). That’s why Kltchkos wanted to put Tyson name of their resume.

Nah manny steward said Tyson always feared Lewis, as well as Bowe.

Tyson was an intimidation bully, he couldn't intimidate such huge men. Without his intimidation he became a lot less effective

Tyson would never beat Lewis... Too big, too strong for a midget like Mike.

Sorry I offended someone, I am not even British.

Tyson Fury went crazy too early. Wilder and Joshua would be 2 good wins on his resume.

Fury's got better boxing ability than both, but I question his ability to stand up to their power. Anyway these are fights that will probably never happen.

The question is who punches harder? Wilder or Klitschko??

If the answer is Wilder we all know what's gonna happen to AJ!

Whoever connects first will win this fight because I'm pretty sure Wilder has a soft chin.

Nop, because Klitschko`s skills are far above Wilder`s, Wilder has glassy legs, he won`t be able to answer on AJ-s output like Wlad did.
