Comments Thread For: Devin Haney: I'm Gunning For Everyone at 140-Pounds!

As his November 4th date approaches, unbeaten super-lightweight prospect, 18-year old phenom, Devin "The Dream" Haney (17-0, 11 KOs), shares his thoughts on training camp and more, as he prepares for his fight with Hamza Sempewo (14-8, 7 KOs) of Kampala, Uganda. Haney vs. Sempewo, an 8-round bout, will take place at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis Hotel in Atlanta, GA, and serve as the co-main event to heavyweight's, Devin "The General" Vargas (19-4, 7 KOs) of Toledo, Ohio, vs. Galen "Bad Boy" Brown (44-38-1, 25 KOs) of St. Joseph's, Missouri.

Damn. He's only 18? Thought he was like 20 or 21 by now. Wasn't too impressed first times I saw him, but now that I realize he's that young I'll keep a closer eye on him. Need to see him step up, soon, I hope. He has a lot of fights at his age.

This kid Haney has absoulutley 0% power. All the top guys at 140 would easily walk him down.

Thought i was the only one who noticed. He and Stevenson both seem to lack any meaningful power.

The last thing I care about from an 18 y/o fighter is power.

            How old are they again??

You'd be surprised how many great punchers didn't have much power at 18.

Power is good to have but skills pay bills.

Maybe I'm thinking too much of them. I just remember when Zab and Floyd were coming up. Both just overwhelmed on so many levels.

But you're are right. They are very young.

Couple months ago he was sh^t talking and calling out Robert Easter at 135. Now he's moved up to 140 I guess lol.

Respect the hustle and mucho respect on how much attention they've gotten Devin outside the ring, but I'm not sold on what he can do in the ring yet.

Super young doe, but still these nothing fights start getting old when you are creeping up on 20 of them. At a certain point you mighta gained more ground as a boxer by staying amateur and fighting top amateurs vs becoming some sorta completely manufactured record pro boxer.
