I think the term catch-weight is often misused and abused

The term catchweight was never meant to be a situation where fighter A gets to determine the weight of a contest. It was for a fighter who could not make a higher weight fighting in it anyway. Stanley Ketcher (160) vs Jack Johnson (Heavyweight) was a catch-weight fight.

When guys fight 1 pound over a weight class and put a clause on the opponents weight as well, that's not catch-weight that's just making your own rules and weight classes

Idk that its been misused so much as hijacked & reinvented like what happens to a lot of words.

That's the old pro wrestling definition of catch weight.

I don't like it at all.Would rather see guys clean out their natural division. It means more then hopping around cherry pickin title's(broner).i don't like fights like Pac vs ODLA or Mikey Garcia vs Cotto.I mean the only thing it will prove is that one is too small or other(bigger guy) is shot.
