The cruiserweight unification between undefeated world champions Murat Gassiev and Yunier Dorticos is possibly going to take place on January 20th, in a semi-final bout as part of the World Boxing Super Series, according to Gassiev's trainer Abel Sanchez. Gassiev (25-0, 18 KOs), who is coming off a perfect knockout of former world champion Krzysztof Wlodarczyk on Oct. 21, will unify his International Boxing Federation title against Drticos (22-0, 21 KOs), who holds the World Boxing Association's title.

WBSS doing everything right (besides US TV, but hopefully that changes now), not only by having PRIME top fighters fight each other, but by keeping MOMENTUM in the division. What do I mean by that? What I mean is, when two guys come off short, easy fights, like Dorticos and Gassiev just did, you dont ignore the situation and keep them on the same robotic schedule you were planning to had they had tough fights. Instead, you adjust, and make their next fight much sooner. Because why not? They didnt take lots of punishment, so they are ready to go immediately. You could do the next fight 6 weeks later, not even have to wait two months. But at least in this case, they are only waiting, what, 3 months? 3 and a half? Still longer than necessary, but much better than you usually see these days.

That as much as anything is what is making this tournament successful.

Sh^t man I can find a fight stream from anywhere with a decent internet connection so thats whatever ultimately to me, but honestly I'd be surprised if they don't pick up a better network for the semifinals & finals if they don't quit being silly & trying to connect them together.

The CW tournament is f#cking gold. The SMW tournament not so much. Plus securing 3 dates over 5 months in 2018 is doable, but when you are requiring HBO or Showtime (in theory) to save 6 dates in 5 months in 2018 with 4 of them being in the first two months it is just gonna make it a harder sell when its guys they have no relationship with really or no future options on. Thats not how the business works in the US usually.

So I'd hope they chop these tournaments up for potential buyers. Most mfers watching won't really give a f#ck if they gotta watch the CW tournament on HBO or Showtime & the SMW tournament on ESPN or something like that.

But f#ck all that for the time being this fight is gonna be a mfer. Gassiev is a bad mfer & Dorticos impressed with the authority he took out the Russian Hammer. Usually the Russian Hammer is having mfers shook, but the Russian Hammer was wonder wtf happened vs Dorticos. Idk wut the under will be for this fight, but I suspect it'll be as sexy as the Russian Hammer vs Dorticos under.

Dan Rafael was saying that the semis and finals may land on a bigger network. Hopefully HBO/Showtime pick it up. The problem was that 8 shows in a space of 2 months was not doable for the bigger networks in the US - - especially considering these fights, although great will do terrible ratings.

Can't wait for this. 2018 has a chance to be better than 2017 with all the possibilities.

I'm far from f#ck the WBSS as idk that everything big in boxing needs to be Amercianized or whatever, but how do the promoters have any fault? It seems like the WBSS in general picked divisions that weren't heavy with US fighters or even North American/America fighters in general so idk that anyone did anything against the WBSS.

Randomly the only America I heard of who tried to get in, Andrew Tabiti, said he didn't even get a denial of entry from them lol. Granted CW basically got the top ten list in the tournament so Tabiti wasn't going to get in, but they didn't make him a sub or anything & he's a fairly promising prospect that it would seem would be worthy of a sub spot.
