My theory is it's bias, plain and simple. The refs are rooting for their fellow countrymen.
The thing about the UK is that it's a small island, heavily condensed, everyone knows everyone. The refs, their friends, family, etc. they're all rooting for the star and boxing is one of their biggest sports. I'm sure they'd get a ton of shyt for not being biased.
I mean it barely takes 16 hours to go from the top to the bottom of the entire UK, you can drive for 14 hours and still be in Texas.
please tell me that you as an andre ward fan didnt type this **** with a straight face ^
Most of you guys probably haven't followed boxing long enough to know about some of the history of British boxing, but the main reason for me is high profile tragedies in the 90s in British rings. It has created a lasting legacy of 'safe over sorry' that I think won't go away.
For those of you sinical people who immediately jump to conclusions about home bias or corruption, there have been plenty of examples of early stoppages where the British fighter has been the one who was stopped early against a foreign fighter or against another British fighter.
Walsh vs Tank as a recent example.
With all that said - for me it was an early stoppage. Takam is fighting for the biggest prize in sports and wasn't being overwhelmed, just slowly being broken down and going through a bad round up to that point, but he wasn't in serious trouble, he should have been allowed to continue.

Not at all. Walsh could have reasonably been pulled out after the first KD, he was wobbly and it was evident even from the way he stood up. that was a good stoppage. for the most part, if there is an early stoppage it's in favor of the UK fighter
I'm british and I agree, there was a risk AJ could of completely gassed out and also the marketing of his 100% KO record is getting half the interest from the casuals. Sky love talking about his power yet since the competition has been stepping up its mostly been ref stoppages even Wlad could of ridden out the rest of the round
