  • Comments Thread For: Hearn: The Plan For Anthony Joshua is To Unify The Belts in 2018

Anthony Joshua has big plans for 2018 now that he is the biggest draw in heavyweight boxing. A unification fight against Deontay Wilder or Joseph Parker. A first fight in the United States, or maybe Africa or the Middle East. Even an all-British super-fight against Tyson Fury, if the former champion regains his license. Before that, though, Joshua must deal with more routine matters: a mandatory defense of his WBA, IBO and IBF belts against an opponent few outside the boxing fraternity will have heard of.

Is he even trying to promote his fight, all he seems to be talking about is Joshua. Stiverne trying a little bit at least

That fight will happen surely, will it happen before Parker faces AJ, I have my doubts. Wilder clearly ain't in the game for the legacy, I don't blame him chasing AJ and avoiding Whyte, he knows full well going to the UK facing a guy as good as anyone he's fought potentially better he could come unglued fast. Do I think he's worth 7m against Whyte ? Shyt no, I don't even think he's worth 4m, a Whyte AJ fight sells regardless of a WBC belt being on the line. Sure it'd be bigger with a WBC belt on the line and a unification but Whyte really wasn't that impressive versus AJ and he sure as shyt wasnt all that impressive versus Chisora either I think Wilder and Parker vs AJ does bigger numbers than a Whyte rematch, their is more prestige and intrigue facing a foreign champion than a guy who at best looks to be no better than UK domestic level.

Unlike Wilder who said he would unify the belts in 2016.. Then he said 2017.. now it’s 2018! We can at least we can rely on AJ to live up to his word.

Good. Pretty sure they'll go the Parker route first though and leave Wilder till the Summer.

No threat to AJ in this fight - Joe Parker already dispatched him (with a little difficulty) in May of last year. He certainly is awkward but I predict TKO round 5.

Parker stands no chance against any top 10 heavy
