Wilder has never faced a mandatory because Povetkin refused to take the fight in 2015, and then in 2016 he failed a test and the WBC withdrew its sanction (the other poster claiming the WBC was willing to go forward with the fight is incorrect).

Povetkin was then ordered to face Stiverne for the interim title when Wilder was injured, but Povetkin failed another test.

Rather than have Stiverne face the next leading contender for an interim title, he was simply ordered to face Wilder since Wilder had recovered from his injury.

His last fight in 2015 he got put down by Derric Rossy, a journeyman, before labouring to a close decision win.

Stiverne is promoted by Don King. That his how he became mandatory. Only in America.

Fres Oquendo laughs at 2 year layoffs going into a title shot.

When is Fres getting his shot btw? Believe the Briggs vacant title fight got killed in May or June. Why haven't they put Fres in another title fight yet???

Money. Money is root to everything. Keep that in mind in life, when you know how to seperate that and watch out for people wanting money at all costs.

WBC is a business and they would rather keep Stiverne ranked probably plus due to he had valid reasons of being in active with WBC. WBC would keep him active as long as team stiverne is paying WBC for ranks and now he is still a big enough name to get some fans interested in this matchup. All boils down to money.

Looks like his punch resistence is going down. HW's is like its own sport man. Which is why I don't watch it much.

Money talks boy, you should know by now.

The "usuals" will claim Stiverne is a great challenger.

It's the WBC. They are famous for making ****** wrong decisions that make absolutely no sense at all.
