Douglas is correct, but these days a guy can do far less than what Canelo did, like Horn, and take the belt from the champ.

Canelo probably thought he was going to get the hometown decision-all he to do was be slick, defensive, fight in pockets and not get KO'd.

With the bizarre change or slowing down of GGG's usual ability to throw excellent combinations, especially to the body as well as his recent style of cutting off the ring well, pressuring opponents well..but then seemingly going into absent-minded land, where it appears he's either too tentative to let his hands go or is doing that fatal thing that top fighters sometimes do: searching for that one KO punch we saw Canelo play it safe against an opponent who didn't seem close to even hurting Alvarez, but he still continued to move in and out of range, keeping G off balance.

Perhaps if Canelo had really taken it to Gennady then we would have seen a real back and forth war- by virtue that Golovkins boxing skills are terribly under-rated, and Canelo's got all the skills necessary except for exceptionally fleet-footedness, but everything else: great defense, offense, upper body movement, improving footwork, power, speed and an untested granite chin.

Cinco de Mayo is a long time away, and I get the feeling Canelo won't be as intimidated or as cautious this time around, which means GGG needs to realize he needs to get back to letting his hands go: the only way he can sink Canelo is with body shots.(Someone said GGG only threw about 7-8 body shots in their first encounter, which is bewildering for a guy with such a talent for going to the body).

Canelo has great skills but he´s too focused on looking flashy and cute. It just isn´t enough unless a judge is wearing two inch thick glasses.. on the other side, Golovkin´s defense is very subtle and unspectacular: a lot of shots look like clean hits when they are actually slipped or deflected just enough not to do any damage. Hard to see all of that live, especially if you need two inch thick glasses.. in short: those two fighters make a great matchup (at least for real boxing fans) but not the easiest fight to judge. I hope to see at least some KDs in the rematch to make it more decisive.

All Golovkin had to do to think he could win was go 12 again against an elite, not hurt his opponent, and have a career high worst stats in cimpubox

Why is everyone being so lenient and nice to nelo now?
Nelo didn't deserve a draw even! The general feeling and consensus immediately after fight was GGG was unlucky to put it mildly.

But with passing oif time people have been able to manufacture idea that nelo deserved a draw or even more. Manufacturers do start getting greedy

I noticed that these geezers are heavily emphasizing on what Canelo could of done a little more but hardly anything good said about Golovkins efforts!

This indicates that these critics really have a poor opinion of Golovkins performance but are they upset at Gennady for that? NO...I wonder why? there are TWO participants in a contest, why is Canelo who landed more flush punches on GGG than any other opponent that he faced singled out?
