So HBO Got A New Gimmick? The Location Graph or Some ISH

    Yall hear that last night?

It measures who controls the center of the ring and who much distance someone covers.

I can see this being another tool to justify robberies

Like a heat map type thing? What kind of robberies do you mean, like Lara - Canelo? I think people are always gone be biased against defensive movement and I'm not sure this heat map would make it worse tbh.

Didn't watch. But I'm pro-new stats being used in boxing.

I'm rooting on the +/- number being a statistical P4P type list and already consider it a better indicator of talent then most other top fighter lists.

That said I think too many mfers get way too weird or high in their expectations with boxing stats and think they should be telling who won. No stat in any sport (outside of points scored or related stats) will 100% tell you who won in any other sports so idk why it's gotta do that in boxing or it's useless.

People have to understand that statistics are not as big an indicator or good/bad in boxing as it is in other US sports. "Football" and Baseball are completely governed by stats, boxing is very different and Americans have to start understanding that.

Although, it can be used as a tool to indicate if a fighter has centre ring and how long he has it for.

This is supposed to measure ring generalship to some degree. Being that it's one of the scoring criteria, it's not a bad thing to help explain it to fans.

I think the UFC has something similar. HBO taking ideas from the UFC.

Yeah it does. I think they show how much time each fighter spends in the middle of the ring and how much time each fighter spends advancing.

Wouldn't tell the whole story of the fight but I like having more stats as long as they are objective and accurate (unlike compubox)

You are right. MMAFighting had a big article about it: https://www.mmafighting.com/2015/8/1...-in-fight-data

Boxing is a subjective sport, my perception of ring generalship is different to most on here. If this helps improve it by any degree I'm all for it.

they have all this technology but they still are unable to see if a punch is a low blow or not.
