If the fight had not been stopped and Corrales had survived (I don't think he would have) the scores would have been close on 2 cards and even on another. With 4 rounds to go Machado would have been a windmill in the 9th. I think the ref thought Corrales was out and wanted to end the count and get him some attention.

Yes he was. I thought he was counting pretty fast myself. Corrales also should have smarter with his attacks he took allot of chances. But it was a great fight. I was hoping he would win.

I thought he was winning...but he was starting to get hit in the exchanges where earlier machados timing was a split second too late. It doesn't matter much, cuz judging by the commentary, hbo couldn't rid themselves of him quick enough.

Yes, the count was a bit fast, but Corrales was obviously wrecked. And with Machado's power, it wouldn't have been good news for the fight to continue.

It was a great fight, and a rematch would likely be just as good.

threw way less punches per round in this fight than usually does

havent rewatched to see if that was a function of tiredness but given he missed the weight by so much and lampley ( who im presuming talked to him in a fighter meeting) said he was under conditioned, im guessing possibility he undertrained . doesnt help your cause in getting a rematch when you miss weight by so much and you try to interrupt machados post fight interview...probably wont sit well with the power-brokers that are hbo

Excellent observation on Corrales interrupting the post fight interview and to top it off corrales missing weight by 4 lbs.
