Comments Thread For: David Haye Wants Joe Joyce vs. Sam Sexton For British Title Next

Joe Joyce marked his professional debut with a hard-fought victory by stopping Ian Lewison in eight rounds. The Olympic silver medallist, unusually first matched against a proven opponent over a scheduled 10 rounds, was largely dominant but struggled to find the authoritative knockout he would have hoped for at London's Indigo at the 02 Arena.

Either of those potential matchups are good fights. Problem is, they are moving Joyce so quickly that if he keeps winning he will be at world level soon, because at HW it pretty much jumps from British level to world level, there is nothing in-between at this weight class. Let's say they fight and beat Sexton next, then what? You gonna fight guys like Whyte, Chisora or Hughie in your 3rd pro fight??

Theres a multitude of british level fighters . Grabbing the belt would mean little . Either way hes in very little danger with anyone outside top 20 bc he beats many in the top 20 . He will probably land a top 10 spot reletively quickly at around 10 fights should he take that route .

Beyond that ? IDK He will have far harder fights in top 10 . But if Hughie can literally fight no one and get Parker Joyce can easily do the same nd in much shorter time bc he wont duck or avoid anyone that gets him that shot sooner .

Sexton is a **** average fighter, Joyce would win relatively easily IMO. I'm not massively impressed with Joe either tbh.

Translation: I have no idea what i'm talking about and can't be bothered to take 10 minutes on youtube to learn but i'm gonna pitch in regardless.

What you should have said: I've just finished watching Cornish and Sexton fight on youtube and can honestly say it's a tough ask but these are the type of fights he needs if he wants to fast track his career.

I actually saw the fight now and after watching Joyce fight Lewison I know for a fact he's being rushed so actually I'm being redundant and i do know what I'm talking about so suck a dizzick

Joyce has potential, but is very raw as a pro.

I would be very concerned having Haye promoting him though.

Ive got high hopes for Haye as a promoter.

He has a gift for talking, and a gift for getting people to believe what he is talking about.

Early days. But he has Shaeffer holding his hand, and probably providing funding

Just needs to make the adjustment from talking about himself to talking about his fighters (Mayweather hasnt managed that yet). I think he has the self awareness to make that adjustment
