The sparring happened when Stiverne was scheduled to fight Breazeale. He says that he was basically helping Joyce out because he had his pro debut scheduled for a few weeks later.

Stiverne is a rich man's version of Ian Lewison pretty much. Other than 2 wins over Arreola, he's never done anything. I would pick probably 4 or 5 other guys on Wilder's resume to beat Stiverne

When Stiverne is performing at his best he's a very good boxer. He's the only man Wilder hasn't knocked out as a pro, and that's even when he wasn't at his best. Look at the Arreola fights - Stiverne KOd him in 6 rounds in 2014, but he went 8 rounds with Wilder in 2015 and his corner pulled him out because his eyes were almost closed shut. Now take for example Eric Molina - he lasted 9 rounds with Wilder, while Arreola KOd him in 1 round.

The fact that he got whooped all around the ring but didn't get KO'd by Wilder doesn't mean much to me. Let me ask you this, take out the wins over an overrated Arreola and who has he beaten?? He just went the distance and got dropped by Derric Rossy and that might be the next best win of his career. Or is it scoring a late KO in a fight he was losing to a washed up Ray Austin?

The fact that he got dominated by Wilder tells me that he was probably ill in the fight like he claimed. To me, he didn't look sharp at all, he was slow and sluggish - not the same fighter who fought Arreola. During the fight I suspected something was critically wrong with Stiverne and these su****ions were confirmed by what Stiverne later said (although of course it's easy for some to reduce his claims of being ill and severely dehydrated to just "excuses").

The problem with Stiverne is that he's notoriously inconsistent so it's anyone's guess what sort of Stiverne we'll see in the rematch but if he's at his best I think he'll give Wilder a much more competitive fight than last time.

yeah i dont understand how stiverne is so highly rated tbh. noones making him out to be a superstar but hes made out to be a really solid win, who has he actually beaten? Arreola whos ****e lol, and as u said hes struggled against poor opposition.
