MOST old-school judges would prefer Byrd's approach

I just think she was watching Canelo too much, most likely because she favors/scores for the boxer over the puncher/pressure-fighter, unless the pressure-fighter is actually being effective..... she missed some of what Golovkin was doing, and that could be because his known strengths/tactics were not that evident
Spot on................ You killing this thread with good insights.

you agreed that its ok for them not to get the big fighters becauce of their style and I think the best has to fight best.im a fan of canelo really because he fought trout and lara even though I thought he lost very close

            3) lets not change the rules to favor fighters who are not good enough to prevent themselves being outboxed/outclassed by better fighters

you rule-changers should stick to club fights..... more "action"..... more KO's..... and you see plenty of good scraps if the guys are evenly-matched

but don't expect A-class guys to drop their skills or fight to their opponents strengths
it was this post that u seemed to agree

why should boxing be dumbed-down for casual fans ?

Sure that would change some small % of outcomes in any given year, but the rules have been altered many times in boxing history (go back far enough & guys used to stand right in front of each other, wrassle more, have rounds ended by a knockdown & fight without gloves) so I don't see as big of a deal with changing them again if that were to happen.

but aggression should not be scoring criteria

this is boxing, hitting without getting hit

it sounds like you are describing a totally dfifferent sport

you can see what you want in boxing every single week, just not in top-level fights..... what did you think of that club fight?

you are literally wanting to dumb-down/limit A-level boxers, which is completely unnecessary and would damage the sport

I don't think I have ever disagreed with anyone more

                  we can agree to disagree

I never said anything like that

the best should fight the best, that includes ALL styles

if they don't fight the best, they don't get paid

Canelo fought the FOUR best best JMW's consecutively..... he LITERALLY cleaned out his division..... then Cotto, Golovkin, etc..... nobody should ever question his heart

not sure what you mean there, but I certainly never suggested that fighters should avoid particular styles..... I have actually had a few words to say about a particular fighter who has been doing that for a few years now lmao
