Comments Thread For: Spence: Thurman Has Been Making Excuses; I'm Waiting On Him

NEW YORK Errol Spence Jr. respects that Keith Thurman must complete his rehabilitation from elbow surgery before considering fighting him. Spence even understands Thurman wanting a tune-up bout before embracing their dangerous welterweight championship unification fight. Beyond that, though, Spence doesn't think there's any reason they can't fight after Spence faces Lamont Peterson in January and Thurman meets an undetermined opponent either late in February or sometime in March.

You know the game. You need to make a name for yourself. Earn your shot. While he fights people less known and less deserving

It's a shame the Lamont Peterson fight couldn't have been fitted in before Christmas. Would have meant another fight in April/May time for Errol Spence Jr. then possibly another November. At this rate he will probably be back out again September 2018, then that will be him for the year. Very disappointing in my opinion as he looks like a real "P4P" contender.

Thurman says he will need a tune-up when he returns, and Spence Jr. is fighting Lamont Peterson. Truthfully speaking, I want to see Spence Jr. vs. Crawford more than Spence Jr. vs. Thurman! I say Spence Jr. vs. Crawford is a better fight!

Best fight at 147 is "The Truth" vs "One Time" it will happen in a year or two.

Spence has fought at least 3 times a year until being forced to wait on Brook. Bigger fights take longer to make.

Yea, I'm not blaming Spence. Just eager to see him forcing his way into the P4P argument.

I hope it happens after Spence vs Peterson. I hope Thurman doesn't start saying that Spence has to prove himself or wait in line.

It is but the Thurman fight is bigger. If he wins that it immediately makes the Crawford fight bigger especially if he can pick up the wbo strap in the meantime. I get the feeling Thurman is waiting for Crawford and spence to take eachother out
