The IBF scrapped the rule for UNIFICATIONS or when champion is defending more than one belt (ie. IBF, WBO, WBC), Hurd vs Trout wasn't a unification nor was Hurd defending more than one belt. This decision was made after the Jacobs fiasco with Golovkin.
