  • Will Cruiserweight William Bezerra (40-0 39 KOs) Surpass Rocky Marciano's 50-0?

So we all know and agree that Rocky Marciano's KO of Ali in 1969 makes him 50-0 by today's standards. Although there are allegedly some lower weight fighters who have recently come close to the number, it will only count if a Heavyweight beats it.

William Fernando Souza Bezerra is a fat cruiserweight. It's inevitable that he will eventually fight at Heavyweight. He has little skill and has clearly fought a lot of set ups and spectators. However, should he move to Heavyweight and reach 51-0 wouldn't this have to count?

Keep in mind also that by today's standards, Marciano wouldn't even be a full Cruiserweight even though he was KOing Super Heavyweights. Marciano usually or maybe always weighed in the 180's. Considering the weigh in tricks fighters do today, This would be the equivalent of GGG KOing Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder then retiring undefeated and coming back several years later to KO another undefeated all time Heavyweight great before retiring for good.

Chayaphon Moonsri http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/383177 is the main man right now he's already 48-0 and 3 wins away from being officially the TBE.

Damn...well thats not Heavyweight first of all. Secondly, there's no money in Strawweight. This guy will have to fight into his 50s if he doesn't want to get a steady job and based on that he will get beat at some point.

He lives in Thailand the money goes further there. Once he becomes TBE in 3 fights he will be an even bigger superstar. He's only 31 too. He may get to 60-0 at his current activity rate by age 34 and ride off into the sunset as by far the best to ever do it.

No you can't count a computer fight as a win. You can't count wins at cruiserweight as heavyweight wins.

I googled William Bezerra. BoxRec says he's actually 41-0 (40 KO). Hasn't fought in 19 months though. You're weird OP.

                Didn't he retire?

This 49-0 & now 50-0 perfect record "stat" is among the dumbest records in boxing history but because Rocky Marciano held that record for so long it became some white dude shroud of turin seemingly high level boxing type bs stat thats more important than it ever should've been and now that a non-white dude has it & some some non-American (from Thailand I predict although not that guy around right now cuz he'll lose before he retires) will soon after a lot of the same cats who've been hyping 49-0 are trying to change the goalposts on what 49-0 means. The reality is Marciano had like 8 or so real fights & has a garbage resume for such a hyped HW & got out of the game earlier cuz boxing is corrupt as f#ck & his manager was f#cking him more than he was f#cking girls with his suitcase of dildos and a perfect record "record" isn't about just one division its about all divisions otherwise random undefeated guys in history would have been hyped as the "undefeated" bantanweight or middleweight or whateverweight guy & they haven't been hyped like Marciana was as the perfect record boxer, not just HW boxer.

It's just a big difference back in those days with 8 Champions in the entire sport as opposed to today at least 5 "Champions" in every weight class, and however many new weight classes and more on the horizon. Back then to retire undefeated Champion was unheard of. Especially at Heavyweight for a short 186 pound guy that wouldn't even be allowed to fight a Heavyweight today. I think his legend is more of that than just being white. Race was definitely a factor though.

I've seen Bezerra before. You couldn't find a more god awful guy with an undefeated record.

All this talk of record is hilarious. Why is everyone so distraught about finding someone to replace Floyd?

The reality is that Floyd's 50-0 record is only meaningful because of who he beat. The exact record is useless. If you removed the first ten fights from his resume he'd still be one of the best fighters ever, and would have a less impressive looking 40-0.
