Do you not know how the purses are paid for? The premium cable companies (in this case Showtime) usually provide a package between $2 - 3 million dollars. That money is then divided between the fighters on each card that the station televises.
Just look at the breakdowns for cards on HBO and Showtime. The purses always add up (close) to the same amount of money for a reason.
The promoters attempt to make their money (profit) at the live gates (covering production expenses exclusively and splitting marketing expenses; insurance kicks ass though).
Why do you think Arum was so mad at HBO? That is littlerally how the money is made lol
It's also the reason many couldn't understand how Haymon could possibly pay for those cards himself (which explains the $500 million rumors; although unconfirmed).
The model works different on network TV (more liability on promoters), why do you think everybody was staying on premium cable for so long? It significantly reduced the risk for promoters and made it much easier to turn a profit.
If you think I'm wrong, just do the math for that cards yourself. Checkout Berto v. Porter, or the last Lara/Charlo card, or any card that had appear on premium cable (HBO has been playing with the budget at times though).
Mikey will get $1 minimum no matter what from this point on.Comment

I'm convinced 99% of you guys are not fans of boxing, just trolls who like fights. Who wouldn't like this fight? How did race get brought into this? I'm black, but Mikey had been in my top 5 for years now. Top 3 now. Crawford, Mikey and Rigo and Loma a close 4th.Comment
