deaux sounds like dough and it's Rigondeaux not Rigondeux.
Rigondeaux sounds French because of the ending, but I don't believe it's a French name since there is no Frenchman alive or dead that has this name.
4th, in Spanish you pronounce every letter so obviously you're not going to pronounce the way a French speaker would pronounce it and we already established that Rigondeaux is not a French name.
5th, Every Cuban and Rigondeaux himself pronounce his name Ree Gon Dee Ou/Aw and they don't speak no French and even if they believed Rigondeaux is a French name, which it isn't they would still pronounce it the Spanish way because they speak Spanish.

Ok, English is my 2nd language, in Spanish is "Rigon-do"
DAW? You miss the x. In French you also miss that x at the end.
This here : Ree Gon Dee Ou/Aw,,,, Is a "cubanismo"
They tend to say the "I" Which sounds like "E" in English, but it is wrong.
It is a French name and I happen to have a couple of friends with the same name.
Spanish is indeed my first language, so.....

And a statement you will make RigoSensei!
That lead left hand gonna touch up Loma!
Timing beats Speed
Precision beats fast feet
Counters beat combos
Timing, precision, and counters is all that Rigo has plus even more!
Lomachenko is underestimating Rigo and he will pay for it!

Spanish is my first language also and I am completely fluent in French. Rigondeaux is not a French name. The ending looks like Marceaux, Thibodeaux etc. but I have never heard of a French person with Rigondeaux as a last name. The way I pronounce Rigondeaux is the same way his trainers and he himself pronounces it. Some Spanish speakers even Cubans although rare might pronounce the X. I heard once a Cuban interviewer pronouncing the X when he was asking about Rigondeaux but that was a one time and one time only. Spanish Speakers from other countries who don't eat the endings might pronounce it but I repeat it is not pronounced the French way.
Here is a video where the Interviewer pronounces it with the X and Rigo's former trainer pronounces the way everybody says it.
Case closed or are we gonna stay stubborn?Last edited by pesticid; 10-24-2017, 08:12 PM.

Him being from a Spanish Country and a spanish speaker leaves them stumped.

Loma's activity will be the key here.
Rigo is a low activity fighter. Even against an over-matched opponent, he rarely initiate the action.
Some says he is very good counter puncher that is why his opponents cannot initiate a lot of action. Right. But Loma is not an ordinary fighter. He is quick, has skills, and has the weight advantage.
