Yeah but he lost to froch and jack and got a gift decision against degale. Eubank beats him in my opinion.
You think he got a gift v DeGale? I had Groves winning it by about a round. Either way, it was a long time ago, both have improved a lot since then. Both had only had about 10 or 11 fights. I don't really take that fight into account much when it comes to assessing them now.
The Groves that lost to Jack was the worst Groves i've ever seen. He was really sluggish and just looked awful under Fitzpatrick. Right now he looks somewhere back to what he was when he was with Booth. The version of Groves from his recent fights would have won that Jack fight i believe, but we'll never know.
Anyway i'm not a big Groves fan but he shouldn't be overlooked. At his very best, he could give any of the current SMW crop a hard night.
Great result for Eubank Jr. Not seen the fight yet, but it's always impressive to go into an undefeated fighter's back yard and KO him.
I think his style could give Groves fits. He has a high work rate & solid chin, so if he can take Groves into the championship rounds he could drown him. Having said that, Groves will be the biggest & best opponent he's fought in the pros and hits accurately and hard, so it could go either way depending on who imposes their gameplan the best.
It's a mouthwatering fight imo. I'd lean ever so slightly towards Eubank Jr (not with much confidence) at this stage of both of their careers.
You need to watch the Yildirim fight. This is a different Jr.
Groves is a fine champion. That being said, if he doesn't get passed cox, which "experts"( who tend to have the softest nicest hands you ever seen) say is a formidable challenge. I don't believe he beats Eubank. He's absolutely lights out. Working at the mayweather BC has had its impression in his performance
