The Ring stipped him and Rigondeaux, though they are both still Lineal. Lineals shouldn't really be stripped, unless they retire or move out of a division. Its where the whole concept becomes cloudy, Ring still have Fury as a champion though he said hed retired, Canelo though he said he wasn't a middleweight. Linares shouldn't really be a champion because I think Crolla was ranked 3 or 4 when they fought.

Also look at the HW division, at times like this it gets messy too. Klitschko was the man, gets beat by Fury, Fury becomes the man but leaves the game, Joshua comes in and looks like taking over...but who is ‘the man’? How do they determine it at times like this? Just pick someone? Defeats the idea.

But like I said, I like the idea, it just can’t be realistically upheld some times
      I totally agree.
I also like the idea of the lineal champion, but the system is totally flawed.
It would be more effective if there was only one champion per division, because it would be easier to tell who is the man. But even then it would come with its problems.

That is why I rarely pay attention to it.
I would much rather see someone fight all the top guys in their primes around their division.

Man I say it every time, bringing back one belt per division is the main thing boxing needs but there is too much water under the bridge and too much cash in the banks of the wrong people for that to ever happen sadly.

The game would have so much more clarity.

Don't mind the Golovtards that still take GBP Magazine, I mean Ring Magazine, as anything other than a silly joke.

As far as I'm aware TBRB follow the rules of lineal champions that's always been. When Golden Boy bought The Ring magazine they added in new stipulations to try and make more lineal champions, though didn't follow the old rules. I think 2012 is the crossover year where The Ring lost its weight on the matter and TBRB took over.

                I'm following TBRB and CBZ...

... now: TBRB "stripped" Canelo back in April, which was somehow laughable, tbh...

LOL yeah that was a cluster****, if I recall correctly they stripped Canelo the week after Golovkin/Jacobs which was 1 vs 2, about something Canelo had said a month before. Think he said "I was never a middleweight" so they stripped him. What are these dudes doing in all this time they just cant make an immediate decision?

I'm not a fan of Canelo's... he ducked, maybe, but the guy followed the "rules", he didn't retire etc... Canelo simply is "lineal"...

Haha yeah, as try as he might he cant shake that pesky lineal middleweight title off his name. I've never had qualms with Canelo, the people that are around him get my back up no end though, dude just wants to fight, same thing with Rigondeaux, get protected for no reason. Canelo proved his worth last time, I'm sure he'll step up again. Let the leeshes of Rigondeaux, he gets beat he gets beat, plenty more fights for him, its the people round him that go on about the money all the time, dude went to Wales to fight Jazza for a pittance
