Comments Thread For: The Curse Of Deontay Wilder

Deontay Wilder should be a bigger star than he is. But that's not entirely his fault. When it comes to what the 6'7" has done inside of a boxing ring, he's done nothing short of take care of business. He lit lesser opposition up from the day he made his professional debut in November of 2008 until he finally saw a judges' scorecard against Bermaine Stiverne in January of 2015. Thirty-two straight knockouts should make you a star because, well, everybody loves knockouts like everybody loves home runs.

The drugs cheats killing fights aren't his fault. And now this cruddy WBC mandatory. Ugh.

I sure hope he goes in deep water after BWare Stiverne.

I agree with the author of this article, it's no fault of Wilder's. He has fought whoever was available to him. He doesn't pick his own fights and truthfully Wilder has been learning on the job and had to be moved carefully but by now we should know more about Wilder but his recent opponents that should have really tested him have all been drug cheats.

He should have KO'd Charlie Zelenoff. Kind of takes away from your power myth when you can't KO a 140 pound mental patient.

              Resume's don't win fights,stumpy.

All that separates AJ from Wilder is a 41 y/o fragile robot that was KO'd by a Professional Golfer

              Without a washed-up Vlad...AJ's resume is WORSE than Wilder's

Good article. It can't be denied that Wilder has been unlucky with opponents popping for PED's recently (though i'm not including Wawrzyk in that list because he's a nobody anyway) but as mentioned in the article it also cannot be denied that prior to that he was matched against far too many tomato cans.

If it wasn't for that he would be a much bigger fighter than he currently is.

Incorrect AJs is still better. All that is on Wilders resume is a fat bloated and overated Stiverne who had beat nobody of note and was a paper champ.

Stiverne is simply on a par with the Charles Martin win of AJ.

Besides Klit AJ has beat Whyte and Brezeale who i both rate higher than Stiverne. Also Pulev who he is about to fight is also way better than any of Wilders opponents.
