Comments Thread For: Daniel Jacobs: Signing With Eddie Hearn Was a No-Brainer

New York - During last week's Jorge Linares vs. Luke Campbell event in Los Angeles, middleweight contender Daniel Jacobs and promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sports created an industry shockwave when they announced their promotional agreement, and the fact they entered into an exclusive multi-fight deal with HBO. Hearn is the most successful promoter in the United Kingdom and currently guides some of the biggest names in boxing that include Anthony Joshua and Kell Brook.

He has all the main areas covered. If he moved up to 168lbs there's Degale, Groves, Callum working with Eddie plus Eubank maybe. HBO for Canelo, Golovkin 2, Andrade. Al Haymon for Charlo. Good career move.

UK promoters know how to make UK fighters rich. Same can be done for Jacobs. I like the idea of fighters getting their fair share. Good on Jacobs, he deserves it!

That's what people are missing in all of this. There's good UK money at 168 too. He's only 30.

He's covered the whole map in true NYC hustler fashion.

You could tell Jacobs is the only fighter in the PBC camp that cares enough about his career. The rest are content getting overpaid fighting cans and then go inactive for a year.

Jacobs' biggest fights, at this point of his career (with Billy Joe Saunders not wanting that smoke), are the Golovkin rematch, a fight with Saul Alvarez, and a fight against David Lemieux (Montreal money is no joke, and it's still a good enough fight to not be abandoned by US TV), all of which are only available to him on HBO (with HBO maybe even taking another shot at bringing Saunders over).

            Don't get it twisted.

Twisted? You need to stop lying to yourselves doe. There's nothing twisted about saying Haymon has created a culture wherein it's okay to be inactive as long as you get paid just enough to last for 1-2 years.

Quillin had that chance to fight on HBO, he'd rather give up his title. (Pls, don't cite the JZ/Haymon rift. It's entirely irrelevant.)
