    KT looking up after Hatton

    "Kostya takes stab at Zab
    The Daily Telegraph
    February 8, 2005

KOSTYA Tszyu's crushing knockout of Zab Judah would almost certainly guarantee him the world welterweight title if he meets the ****y little Brooklyn southpaw in a rematch this year.

That's the opinion of Tszyu's trainer Johnny Lewis, who says Tszyu's domination of the light-welterweight and welterweight divisions was confirmed when Judah scored a stunning ninth-round KO to win the world welterweight crown from Cory Spinks on Sunday.

Judah lasted just two rounds with Tszyu when they fought in Las Vegas in 2001.

"I think that knockout would have a huge psychological effect on Zab if Kostya fights him again," Lewis said.

"Zab is a very gifted boxer but that defeat will be in the back of his mind forever.

"Depending on how Kostya performs in his next fight with Ricky Hatton in June I think fighting Zab for the welterweight title could be a very good move and an excellent chance to win all the world titles at a higher weight division.

"It would be the perfect chance to make Kostya a multiple champ at different weights."

Lewis said superstars Oscar De La Hoya and Shane Mosley had paid Tszyu "the ultimate complement" by avoiding the Russian-born Sydney sensation when they moved up through the weights from lightweight to welterweight.

Judah, who lost on points to Spinks last year, shattered the world champ's much hyped homecoming with a barrage of punches in the ninth round before 22,000 Spinks fans in his hometown of St Louis. "

And you guys say that Zoo and his camp doesnt talk ****. I told you that I always hear them talking ****. You guys just like Zoo more then anyone else so you overlook the things that he and his camp say but if someone else said it then you would call them littile ****y bastards who need to be KO.

Shane and Oscar moved up because they didnt want to fight Zoo Thats the funniest **** Ive ever heard. Zoo hadnt beat anyone when Oscar moved up and Shane jumped from 135 to 147 to fight Oscar who was top 3 #4#. Who had Zoo beaten then? He still hasnt beat anyone except for Zab if you ask me. How come he never moved up to fight Oscar, Shane, Sweet Pea, Forrest, Mayorga, Spinks, or Tito. There werent any good fighters at 140 except for Zab and all the money and big fights were at 147. You guys never say anything about this but you call Hopkins scared because he doesnt move up

Mosley lost to KT twice in the ametuers! You don't think that he might have skipped the division to avoid him? I don't hold anything against Shane for going for the payday but at least tell the whole story and not just the bits that back up your argument. KT beat Forrest twice in the ametuers as well and when Oscar and Shane moved up Spinks and Mayorga were nobodies.

I asked you the following Q in another thread and got no answer. Why does KT have to step to prove himself? Why is dominating the one division for an extended period not good enough? Hopkins is #4# number 1 and has been in the same div over 10 years! Hagler stayed at middleweight his whole career! (But I guess he was overrated like you seem to think KT is)

You say he didn't step up to fight all these guys. Whose to say that they didn't step up to avoid him? OH, you must have been privelged to info the rest of us don't have?

KT and Johnny Lewis are two of the most humble people in boxing (which has been proven many a time). Sure he might be exagerating a bit in his comments, but unless you happen to be on the inside I think your going a bit overboard saying that KT's team is talking ****.

I did answer your question. I said you dont have to move up in weight "unless" your in a weak division and 140 was weak until a couple of years ago. The division was nothing compared to what it is now.

I dont buy all that stuff about the amatuers. There are so many different things that go on. You can be so young when you are in there. There have been alot of good amatuers who werent good pros and vice versa. Do you really think that Mosley at the time thought he couldnt beat Zoo? He was killing everyone at 135 and jumped straight to 147 to fight a guy who some had as the best fighter in the game after they thought he beat Tito. Mosley won and won convincly. He was a champ at a higher weight then Zoo and had no one that Zoo had beaten had come close to being as good as Oscar and you think he avoided Zoo Alot of great fighters lost double digit fights in the amatures. Pinto beat Cotto. That doesnt matter

Don't worry guys, both BHop and Kostya will step at to 175/147 respectively.

          BHop V Tarver
          Kostya V Oscar

I dont know if I see any of those happening. Tarver is a overated and will probally lose to Johnson again and X will fight Tito next and retire. Oscar might change his mind now after Zab won. He didnt want to fight Spinks but Zab is a different story and they could make alot of money in NY but I dont think he wants to mix with King so that probally a no but I see Zoo (if he gets past Hatton) fighting Zab or he might fight Oscar. I dont know. Since Oscar runs alot of **** now, it might be a mini tournament. Oscar will fight Zoo and he will hook Shane up with Zab and then the winners fight

Oscar & Shane didn't fight Zoo because KT was beaten by Vince Phillips. Had KT beat Phillips we might have seen a fight between KT & Oscar but thats what happens in boxing. I'd favor Oscar & Shane if they would've fought back then & even now.

Show me were exactly I said that Oscar avoided KT? Oscar only had 2 fight's at 140 against Chavez and M A Gonzalez (two guys KT desroyed, admittedly 2 and 3 years later) before stepping up to welter against Whittaker. KT was still making his name as an up and comer in the pro ranks and probably not have been thought of as an opponent for DLH as he did not have a big profile and was doing most of his fighting in Oz so would not have been a good draw. And as I said Lewis was exagerating a bit.

As I said wiht Mosley, I don't hold anything against DLH for not taking a fight with KT, but he did only have 2 fights at 140 so we will never know what would have happened.

If KT beats Hatton what fight would you have him try to make if you were his manager? For me, I would say anything that I could to try to get DLH in the ring. He will have to lose alot of weight and I think it can be agreed that he is past his prime. The money is with DLH. No doubt. I just don't see how what has been said in the above article is even a 1/10th of the talk that goes on by some fighters and their camps. If this one thing says to you that they talk **** all the time you must be one sensitive dude.

Oscar had already moved up to welter and beat Pernell, I don't think he would have come back down. And Shane stayed at Lightweight for another 2 years befre going straight to welter

Everyone in every weight class around Oscar always wants to fight Oscar because thats where the money is.

My point is this isnt the first time Ive heard them talk. Zoo talks **** in alot of interviews about how he would destroy someone. He just doesnt curse so alot of people accept it. Thats bull****. If your going to criticize some fighters, then you better criticize them all and you think just out of the blue this is the first time his camp has talked like this. NO its not. They talk like this alot. People just overlook it and I do also because I dont care but I also dont care when the other fighters do it so you should be fair to everyone
