Naseem gets a lot of flack because he lost a points decision to Barrera, like there's any shame in that.

He beat some good fighters, he was entertaining, brought knockouts and got a lot of casuals interested in watching smaller fighters and resulting in them getting good paydays. What more do people want? not everyone can be an ATG.

He had already stopped caring about boxing before that Barrera fight anyway. It's well documented he was barely training, started ballooning in weight between fights at that point for his size and did have wrecked hands. That's not to say he'd have beaten Barrera earlier, however Barrera did catch him at the right time regardless.

I think they do. Maybe not hardcore boxing fans, but the casual market probably does. I'd say Conor McGregor is somewhat flamboyant and look how popular he is worldwide. He isn't a boxer yet he has been involved in one of the biggest fights ever, and a big part of that was down to him and his personality, as well as his MMA career.

There's a fine line though and Conor uses his personality in a way that attracts people. Some try to be Flamboyant and come across as insufferable to the point where most people dislike them.

Hmm, yes and no. It does attract a lot of people (who love and hate you) but boxing needs exciting fights at the top level a lot more than that. Of course you're totally right about McGregor, you need personality and charisma to become a big star. It also helps that he comes to fight and takes the big fights and wins. I feel like it's easier to become a big star in the UFC than in boxing though, there's less competition plus Dana White gets behind and pushes guys in the UFC. A lot of boxing promoters just let the fighters fight and don't get their names out there.

          Naz was never 'flamboyant'...

He was just a smug, brash personailty who polariesed fans in the same way Floyd did.

People watched him because they wanted him to lose.

It also helps that UFC is one entity. Boxing would have more huge stars if everyone was pulling in the same direction it was under 1 umbrella but it's essentially the opposite of that. Everyone is against each other outside of the ring too.

I put him on ignore a while back along with a number of other idiots and trolls. I have found very few people on this boxing forum actually talk about boxing unfortunately
