Comments Thread For: Top Rank-ESPN series to kick off 2018 on Super Bowl weekend

On November 11th and December 9th, Top Rank will have cards from Fresno, California and New York City as part of their new series on ESPN. Earlier this year the two en****** entered into an exclusive deal to televise a series of fights on the network and their vast array of platforms. When Bob Arum, the chairman of Top Rank, was asked when this series would resume in 2018, he told BoxingScene.com - "February 3rd, which is the Saturday before the Super Bowl. We're not doing any fights in January because that's when the (NFL) playoffs are."

What is Top Rank showing PBC?

If anything Top Rank learned something from PBC and is applying it.

You know I love me some American Football ( GO New England Patriots! and Dallas Cowboys!) ; what great news that we can enjoy both sports without interruptions. I just want to thank Bob Arum and Toprank for the fantastic program and how he is bringing a great deal of attention to the sport of boxing around this festive time in America.

**** football. Its mostly replays, comercials, huttling and politics. 3 hours just to get 20 minutes or less of action.

F#cking this. Consistently amazed people give a f#ck about football. Its a serious of breaks around 5 seconds of action at a time.

F#cking boring as f#ck to watch. Don't grasp how this is
"Americas sport"...although in fairness I reallllllllly don't grasp how kicking a ball around wayyyyyy to big of a field for 5 hours or whatever & ending a game 1-0 95% of the time is the "Worlds" sport largely.

The world at large is a huge ***** who doesn't like to look you in the eye obviously.

I think those sports get sh^t on enough or the proper amount anyway. People go nuts for boring ass NFL & f#cking brutally boring soccer doe. I don't get it.

Been in sportsbooks a lot recently & I've watched the same screens others are watching & seen the guy move 5 yards & not felt one emotion about it while the crowd acts like a knockout just happened lmfao. Craziest f#cking thing to see people so hyped for such a bs nothing game. I obviously don't "get it" doe.

Lately ESPN has been a great outlet for boxing. When fights are aired on ESPN, the cards are advertised and talked about on sports center and ESPN radio, drawing viewers for the card and more importantly, the sport itself. I am excited to hear this news and hope in the not too distant future they will have a regular weekly time slot so fans can plan to watch like the original Top Rank boxing that ruled the air waves years ago. One of the problems that hurt PBC ratings are that the fights are sporadic, one on Tuesday this week and Thursday two weeks later. Hard to maintain a regular viewing crowd.
