    Malignaggi/Delgado

I noticed on boxrec that Malignaggi had a split decision with Paul Delgado in 2002.Then rematched him and won a UD.Did anyone see the first fight?Did Malignaggi really struggle with Delgado?

      just read this...

Yes Delgado was robbed in the first fight. Malignaggi easily won the second. Delgado is underrated and was robbed very badly against Dmitry Salita too.

The first fight was close. I though Paulie eked it out, and though that a split decision was fitting. It was the first of many times that Paulie broke his hand, which was the ONLY reason the fight was as close as it was. I think he broke it in the second or third round.

More notable, it was an ass fight on an ass undercard while many of us were sitting on our hands waiting for Gatti-Ward II.

I disagree...I trained in the same gym as Delgado when he was in the am's. Seen him fight in the ams alot too...he was slightly better than the average moe, but as a pro...hes low level.

Pires and Barrows used to torture him and we saw how far those guys went. Pires had some bad loss' and quit the game and Barrows never made it as a pro...they had more talent in one hand than Paul has in both.

Didnt see the Malignaggi fights w/him though. I heard, not sure on this, that Delgado went down in one of the fights.

Jeff Fraza K'd Paul...and Fraza sucks. Delgado has got like 7 loss' and been K'd 3x. Hes far from under rated.

I trained in the same gym as Delgado too. When he was a pro. Delgado actualy had a very good amateur career, i think he only had lke 3 losses with over 40 wins.

            Lets see here....

Dimitry Salita is considered a good prosepct. Delgado was robbed blind against Salita,

Paulie Malignaggi is now a world champion. Delgado was robbed by him.

He clearly lost to Hopkins (good fighter) and Salid Quali (good figher).

You look at Delgado's record and thnk he is a worse fighter than he is. You look at his record and dont see the robberies to Malignaggi and Salita.

Delgado's record should be 20-5 with wins over Malignaggi and Salita. Thats not too bad.

            Delgado is underrated.

Better than Ray Oliveira in my opinion. Did you see how Ray talked MAAAAAAAAD **** to Micky Ward for fighting and beating Emmanuel Augustus and then Augustus toyed with Oliveira when they fought?

Delgado fights tonight by the way. He is fighting on the main event of his first promotional event he has put on. He is fighting some cat by the name of Jose Felix. Delgado should do well because hes been getting trained by the best trainer in the world.
