  • Comments Thread For: Rio Ferdinand Admits Boxing Run May Only Last One Fight

Rio Ferdinand has revealed that his aim in boxing stretches little further than having one fight. The former footballer, who played for Manchester United and England, announced last month that he is attempting to switch sports at the age of 38 and has been backed by bookmakers Betfair.

Seems like you're already taking it lightly to even be making this career move st your age with zero experience. Good luck my man.

I thought this too. Late thirties with zero experience and he is aware it will most likely just be the one match? Sounds pretty light going too me.

Oh, and the fact it is being pushed by Betfair just makes it seems like even more of a gimmick-cash grab affair, hard to take it serious.

I share the same sentiments that slogan defender to contender should say defender to pretender

Ferdinand (ex Manchester United) vs Joey Barton (ex Manchester City).

Barton spent a lot of his time on the pitch looking like he wanted to be in a boxing ring anyway (with a disciplinary and police record that makes Broner look like a lightweight).

Winner takes on Gennaro Gattuso for the European Ex-footballer's belt

i read once that inesta would beat mayweather cause he as technical with his hands as he is on his feet. it wasnt on here, but it was one of the worst things ive read.

anyway, i hope rio fights a contender at cruiser. i have no clue what weight he is now. guessing around 200lbs.

but based on barton behaviour, he might hide a knife or sth in case everything go wrong

They could start him off against David Price or Dudley, sorry I mean, Audley Harrison. A nice easy KO win to start the ball rolling.

Anyone seen him on the mits, he has no place in a boxing ring.
