I was just as shocked about it too. At first I thought it was an undercard fight to hopkins/tarver. But when I found out it was a separate event with a $40 price tag, I almost fell off my chair! And these fights are at the same time too! WTF!!!!

The fact of the matter is that the weigh in is being held 4 hours early, when it has never been held that early in the day. Add to that, the fact that Cotto is inevitably going to come in as a cruiser, and Malignaggi has a naturally smaller frame, and you have your reasons why Malignaggi is annoyed...

Is someone going to tell me why the promotors have said the weigh in is going to be at 1, and nobody has disputed that...

As I understand it Arum booked MSG for the weekend of the PR day parade way in advance and way ahead of Tarver vs Hopkins. He currently has PR's most popular fighter and wanted to cash in on the PR day parade weekend hype. I believe its Hopkins and Tarver who booked after they already knew Arum had a fight that weekend.

The other thing is that Cotto vs Paulie would have never been on the under card for Hopkins vs Tarver at MSG on PR Parade weekend. You gotta think Hopkins being the main event to a PR dominated crowd never gonna happen unless he is fighting a PR
