This past Saturday night, WBC World cruiserweight champion Mairis Briedis beat Mike Perez via a unanimous decision in the quarterfinals of the World Boxing Super Series tournament (WBSS). Briedis (23-0, 18 KOs) overcame a cut eye to outpoint Mike Perez 116-110, 115-111 and 114-112 in Riga, Latvia, and set up a semifinal against undefeated WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk of Ukraine.

Just off the top of my head usyk looks like he might be the toughest guy to beat out of all fighters in a division, he really seems to be head and shoulders above everyone else

When I saw Briedis separating Charr from his senses I thought he was someone to follow closely. How wrong I was.

Usyk will play with him for a comfortable points win.

People who said Briedis sucks because of that bout can't appreciate tactical fights. Briedis executed the game perfectly, outsmarted his opponent, made Perez fight in an uncomfortable manner, and even if it wasn't entertaining, the win is still a win. Remember, it was more competitive matchup on paper than the favorite of the tournament (Usyk) against war torn veteran (Huck) or Dorticos against Kudryashov who was collecting all Dorticos punches on his face

wont be easy for Usyk but Breids seems motivated and scared at same time.

Weird how he's fought his way to a belt without ever facing a southpaw, his team should've found one for him on the way up surely...
