you can get a full ride to play a sport where you don't get punched in the face, slay hot 19 year old puss, and have some of the best four years of you life. why box when you're young? the olympics? it's every four years and boxing isnt' even on TV for the most part. it's no wonder that americans of all colors and abckgrounds are boxing less and less. collegiate sports are just a more practical, available option for the typical, talented kid. football, basketball being the big ones.
Why aren't there that many White American Boxer?

You're not wrong, man. I've lived all over - especially in Manchester - mainly where the housing was cheap, Moss Side, Levenshume, Rusholme amongst the ****** and Black communities - and in the main everyone gets on OK... I've only been to the US once and the levels of seemingly casual background racism I observed were disturbing despite all the BS about it being a 'melting pot' and the pretence at harmony. It's weird, but it does make sense of some of the vitriol you see getting thrown around on here on the daily. That's one fucked up country, man.Comment

Because of the gun culture. In countries where there are strict gun laws there are good white fighters. They learn to defend themselves with their hands. In America they learn to use a gun.
People saying it's a poor mans sport are saying white people in this country aren't poor?Comment

Didn’t the USA population BOOM with diversity since the late 1800s?
New York was predominantly Italian and Irish correct? That’s why the early greats had it easier because those bouts were more widely accepted in prize fighting. I’d say American culture changed because of World War tensions where a black representative could represent agaisnt the third Reich. If you hear old footage from the first Schmelling Bout a lot of Americans were booing Louis at the Garden...
At any rate I think early boxing culture was way more complicated than it is today. Because of progression, civil rights, populous diversity, the more hood style and unprivileged paved the way, and no different than it was before.Comment

Because white fighters suck that's why. They don't have rhythm, their timing is off. Most go into brawling and pay the price for it. How many slick white fighters have there been in history, 5 maybe 10 (going overboard here). If it wasn't for Willy Pep, there would have been zero great white fighters.First of all, before people call me a racist, I'm not. I'm literally just curious and want to find out, I'm not a race baiter either, I'm just curious. For country with 69 or so percent of a white population, there is no current active big boxers. Blacks make up less than 13% of the population and there are more boxers than whites, same with hispanic, they are also less than 13%. I'm honestly just wandering, in the past there have been so many great boxers that are white, but currently there are none. There are so many white European boxers that are great as of right now though.
It's not poverty, MMA, or no gyms. Plenty of poor white folks that have access to the same gyms blacks have. White fighters suck. Blacks, Mexicans, and Cubans rule Boxing.Last edited by McNulty; 10-01-2017, 05:21 PM.Comment
